National Award winning director Umesh Shukla is working on a socially-relevant film that he wants to make with Sanjay Dutt, who is likely to be released from jail later this month.

"I have a story idea for Sanjay Dutt. He suits the role, hence we would want him to be part of the film. When he comes back I will narrate it (story) to him," Shukla told PTI.

"I have narrated it to Manyata (Dutt's wife) and she has liked it. I am hopeful he will like the idea," he said.

Dutt, 56, was sentenced to five years imprisonment by a TADA court.

In his 2012 satirical comedy-drama film "Oh My God", Shukla had narrated the story of a man, who owns a shop of Hindu idols and antiques, and sues God when his shop gets damaged due to natural calamity.

His next untitled film will be socially relevant.

"It's a socially relevant film with elements of drama, comedy, action, romance. Sanjay will be playing the lead role," Shukla said.

"Besides Dutt, there will be other actors as well... We plan to rope-in some theatre actors for the film," he added.
