SI tries to molest Dalit woman inside police station; arrested

SI Kamta Prasad Awasthi was today suspended and arrested following the allegation made by the woman.

Awasthi called the woman at his premises inside the police station last night for some inquiry and tried molesting her, a police spokesman said here.

The woman in her complaint also alleged that the SI used to call her every now and then at the police station on pretext of inquiry, he said.

A case was registered against Awasthi, after which he was suspended with immediate effect and arrested, the spokesman said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Malihabad is investigating the case.
