The Orissa High Court today extended till December 16 the interim relief to Congress leader and Paralakhemundi MLA K Surya Rao and restrained police from arresting him in connection with his alleged role in the suicide of four siblings in Gajapati district in August.
In a similar order, the high court also extended its interim protection to Gajapati district BJP chief G V Ravana and posted the hearing of the anticipatory bail applications of both Ravana and Rao to December 16.
The high court had granted the relief to both these leaders in August.
Based on the names figuring in the suicide notes retrieved from one of the deceased siblings, the crime branch police investigating into the case had summoned nine persons in this connection, including the Congress MLA, BJP leader and another local BJD councillor for questioning.
