Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today dismissed former CM and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy's charge of irregularities and delay in Yettinahole water project with a personal jibe.

"How will he (Kumaraswamy) tonsure his head when he has no proper hair?" the Chief Minister quipped when reporters here asked him about the JDS leader's challenge that he would tonsure his head if the project was completed in three years.

Alleging irregularities in the Yettinahole project, Kumarswamy while speaking to reporters in Kolar yesterday had said he will tonsure his head if government completes the project and supply water in three years.

"Loot has happened in last one year in the name of supplying water to Kolar and Chikkaballapura through Yettinahole project; they (government) say Rs 1,200 crore has been spent, but has the work to such extent happened on ground? Where has the money gone? When such is the situation how will they supply water in 3 years as promised, I will tonsure my head if they supply water," Kumaraswamy had said.

Yettinahole project is meant to supply water to water-starved districts of Kolar, Bangalore Rural, and Chikkaballapur by diverting water of Netravati river in Dakshina Kannada district.

State government in March last year had laid the foundation for the project amidst protests in Dakshina Kannada as the people there were apprehensive it would affect their district.
