Silver crown of deity in temple stolen

: A silver crown of the presiding deity of Panaiamman temple has been stolen, police said.

They said CCTV footage had captured a man scaling the temple wall last night, breaking open the door of the sanctum sanctorum and taking away the crown.

The man also took away a special pot kept in the sanctum sanctorum, which he later threw away on a nearby pathway.

The value of the stolen crown is estimated at Rs one lakh, they said.
