Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh today appealed to the Central government to simplify the procedure for organ donation.
"The present procedure for living, unrelated donors is tedious and lengthy. For timely treatment, an easier procedure needs to be put in place," he said while addressing a gathering on the occasion of dera founder Saint Mastana Ji's birth anniversary.
He said the legal process involved in organ donation should not take more than a couple of days and advocated strict punitive penalties to check the illegal sale of organs.
Over 60,000 dera followers have pledged to donate their kidneys, he said.
