'Nakshatra Vatika', a garden developed on the theme of astrology, at the Yamuna riverfront near Civil Lines was inaugurated here today by Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia

He inaugurated Vatika, which is spread over a two-acre area at Geeta Ghat and has 27 types of plants that represent 27 stars

as per astrology.

The garden is part of Delhi government's larger plan to beautify 5-km stretch of the Yamuna bank and has been set up at a cost of Rs 23 lakh, a senior official said.

"The garden will enable the new generation to reconnect with the ancient Indian traditions as many of the traditions are deemed superstitious now. Though, many of these practices have a scientific backing," Sisodia said, adding the initiative will also deter people from polluting river.
