Police today claimed to have made a major breakthrough in the theft of LPG from an Indane plant here over six months ago with the arrest of six persons, including a tanker driver and two security guards.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Bhura alias Lokesh, the mastermind, and five others when they were planning a strike, an officer said, adding a hunt is on for seven others.
About 17 ton of LPG was stolen from near an Indane bottling plant on the intervening night of April 13 and 14, SSP Gulab Singh said.

The tanker driver in connivance with security guards entered the bottling plant with his tanker and a plant technician filled the tanker with gas.
Later, the tanker was taken to Ferozabad district and the gas was sold to Harpal Chahar for Rs 2 lakh, the SSP said.
The arrested are tanker driver Ram Kishor, technician Firoz Khan, Desharaj and security guards Rajan Singh and Suraj Mal.
