Police today claimed to have arrested six persons for selling intoxicating substance here, a senior official said.
A 32-bore revolver, six cartridges, two air pistols, 475 g of intoxicating powder and three bikes were seized from their possession, said Hoshiarpur Senior Superintendent of Police J Elanchezhian here today.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a place near Naushehra wood mandi and nabbed them.
The accused were identified as Gurpreet Singh, Jagtar Singh, Harmanjot Singh, Rohit Kumar, Hardeep Singh and Sukhchain Singh, police said.
However, their two accomplices-Sukhvir Singh and Sonu managed to escape.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in nine incidents of robbery committed in the district.
A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and the The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered against the accused, police said.
