Six members of a family, including two minors, were killed and four others were injured after a car plunged into canal in Chunar area, police said today.
The incident occurred last evening when they were returning after paying obeisance at a dargah, Superintendent of Police Arvind Sen said.
The deceased identified as Mehboob Alam (65), Niyaz (33), Salma (32), Sajre Alam (2), Sharmila (28) and Nusra (3) were killed when the jeep in which they were travelling skidded off the road into a canal last evening, the SP said.
The injured were referred to Varanasi after primary treatment in a nearby community health centre, he added.
