Six persons were killed and one other was taken ill after drinking spurious liquor in Mahona village here, police said today.
Seven people, who had consumed liquor purchased from a country made liquor outlet in the village last night, complained of diarrhoea and vomiting and were admitted to Jagdishpur hospital, they said.
Six of them died today, police said, adding the deceased were identified as Jainath Yadav, Shiv Narain Vishkarma, Natedar, Shyam Bahadur Pasi, Jamal Ahmed and Shyam Bahadur.
DSP Jagdispur Durgesh Kumar Singh has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the incident, Superintendent of Police Alankrita Singh told reporters.
