Haryana Government today suspended six executive engineers and two other officers in connection with alleged irregularities in the allotment of development works by the Municipal Corporation.

Haryana's Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain ordered the suspension of the officers while directing that these officers be charge-sheeted for not giving reply to the explanation sought by the office of Municipal Commissioner during an inquiry earlier, according to an official release.

"Stern action would be taken against all corrupt officials," the release quoted her as saying.

The minister ordered an inquiry on April 6, 2016 after getting the information of alleged irregularities in the allotment of development works by the Municipal Corporation, Gurgaon, in 2015-16.

Once the irregularities were confirmed during the investigation, show-cause notices were served to eight officers but non have given a reply, it said.

"With a view to extend benefit to someone, these officers took the quotation route, ignoring the e-tendering process, which is a clear violation of the rules and regulations," Jain said.
