Six get life sentence for murder

A court in Surendranagar today sentenced six persons to life imprisonment for killing a man over a dispute and five others from another group to imprisonment of three years.

Additional Sessions Judge D L Patel held the six men guilty for murdering Premjibhai Vatseliya over a dispute on an approach road at Hematpar village in Surendranagar district in 2015.

The court convicted five others named in a cross FIR for injuring two persons and sentenced them to three-years imprisonment.

While Vatseliya was killed in the clash between two groups after an iron pipe hit his neck, two persons suffered serious injuries.
 

Police had arrested eleven persons from both sides on charges under sections 302 (murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt using dangerous weapon) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Those given life sentence are Vikram Vatseliya, Karsan Vatseliya, Mathur Vatseliya, Pravin Vatseliya, Mukesh Vatseliya and Nagar Vatseliya.
