Six injured in Nepal as fishermen clash with army

At least six persons, including three army personnel, sustained injuries when some fishermen clashed with soldiers of Nepal Army in western Chitwan district, police said today.

The clash erupted over disputes related to fishing, according to the police. Three soldiers, two locals and a policeman were injured in the incident.

The injured people have been undergoing treatment at the Bharatpur Medical College.

Police said it is investigating the incident.

The local people also seized army vehicle after the incident.

Fishermen from areas located around the buffer zone of the Chitwan National Park usually go for fishing in local streams and swamps.
 

However, fishing is allowed around the buffer zone areas only with permission. Chitawan National Park is famous for rhinos and tigers.
