Six militant outfits of the North East, including the ULFA (Independent), have decided to call a general strike and boycott the Independence Day.
The militant outfits as a mark of protest have decided to boycott the Independence Day. They have also called for the general strike on that day beginning from 1:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Besides the ULFA(I), the other militant outfits are Coordination Committee (CorCom) Manipur's six parties, Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO), National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) and National Liberation Front of Twipra (NLFT), according to a joint statement.
However, essential services, emergency measures, media and religious activities are exempted from the purview of the general strike, the statement added.
