Six fishermen of Pudukottai district were arrested by Sri Lankan navy while they were fishing near the Lankan coast, authorities said today.
Assistant director of the fisheries department, Sekar, said the fishermen of Jegathapattinam village were fishing at Neduntheevu last night when the Lankan navy arrested them.
The fishermen along with their boat were later taken to Kangesanthurai, he added.

The arrested fishermen were produced before a court in Oorkavalturi, which ordered their remand till December 31, Fisheries Department sources said.
They were later lodged at a prison in Jaffna, Sekar said.
