Israeli military rescuers retrieved a sixth and last body from a collapsed Tel Aviv construction site today, five days after the accident, security and medical sources said.

A military spokeswoman said there were no further missing people at the site of Monday's accident in the upscale Tel Aviv neighbourhood of Ramat Hahayal.

Yesterday, rescuers removed two bodies, and police said today that all three people have yet to be identified.

Magen David Adom emergency medical services said they had treated 23 people at the site of the collapse.

The circumstances remain unclear, with media reporting that a floor collapsed during construction of a four-storey underground car park, which was to have a shopping centre built above it later.

Israel has seen a high number of construction accidents in comparison to the developed world.

Haaretz newspaper reported in May that 480 people were killed in construction accidents between 2000 and 2015, citing a survey placing Israel third from the bottom in a list that included the United States and 20 European nations.
