Investors lapped up small- and mid-cap equity mutual funds in the June quarter, during which the category saw a gain of over 11 per cent, says a report.

These funds have been a consistent performer, the report by Crisil-Amfi on Small & Mid-cap Fund Performance Index showed here today.

As per the findings, an analysis of month-end assets under management for the 10 years to June shows that the share of small- and mid-cap funds in the equity MF pie has gone up.

Annualised asset growth for the funds came in at 24 per cent as against 15 per cent and 14 per cent for diversified equity and large-cap funds, respectively, the report said.

Unlike most ranking models, which are based purely on returns or net asset value (NAV), Crisil mutual fund ranking uses a combination of NAV and portfolio-based attributes.
