Small sugar firms up on rising demand

Small sugar prices firmed up at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to rising demand from millers and bulk consumers.

Medium sugar ruled mixed on alternate bouts of buying and selling.

Small sugar (S-30) climbed by Rs 6/160 per quintal to Rs 2,842/2,962 from Monday's closing level of Rs 2,836/2,802.

Medium sugar (M-30) quoted at Rs 2,916/3,062 as against Rs 2,900/3,072 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,842/2,962 (Rs 2,836/2,802).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,916/3,062 (Rs 2,900/3,072).
