Smuggled gold seized by BSF

Three kilogrammes of gold biscuits valued at about Rs 1 crore were seized from a smuggler by BSF personnel near a border outpost in North 24-Parganas district.

The 24 gold biscuits were seized from Islam Mullah, an Indian national who was trying to smuggle it in from Bangladesh and was heading for Bithari village, under the Hakimpur BOP on the Indo-Bangla border yesterday, BSF sources said.

He was handed over to Swarupnagar police station for further investigation.

The BSF also seized about six kilos of gold valued at about Rs 2 crore and arrested four gold smugglers in the past few months in South Bengal Frontier of the force.
