Two smugglers were arrested today with fake currency notes with a face value of Rs 3.98 lakh from NH-57 near Gaighat locality in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, DRI sources said.

Acting on a tip-off, DRI sleuths intercepted a bus on its way to Motihari and nabbed the two smugglers, identified as Alam Sheikh and Sujaibul Sheikh, both natives of West Bengal's Malda district, with the haul of fake currency notes, the sources said.

The seized currency notes were in the denomination of Rs 1000 of the highest quality, which the duo had planned to circulate through local conduits in West Champaran district, they said.

The DRI had earlier this month arrested another smuggler with fake currency notes with a the face value of Rs 3.28 lakh.
