Sonia hails Sania's Khel Ratna award

Congress President Sonia Gandhi today congratulated Sania Mirza for receiving the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award and said that the tennis star had done the nation proud.

Gandhi lauded Sania's commitment and determination and hailed her achievements in the sport.

Sania was today conferred with the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna -- the country's highest sporting honour -- at a glittering ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan here.

She became the second tennis player to receive the country's highest sporting honour after Leander Paes.
