South Indian Purohit conference convened

Heads of various mutts took part in the 56th South Indian Purohit Conference here, conference representatives said today.

The one-day conference was convened in the presence of Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi here yesterday.

Some of them said purohits being an important part of the Hindu community, provisions must made through Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department, to provide livelihood to them.

Conference General Secretary Arcot Narasimhan convened the meeting.
