Southern Rly diverts trains

As cyclone 'Phailin' is set to hit the eastern coast, Southern Railway announced cancellation and diversion of many trains from here passing through Andhra Pradesh and Odisha for today and tomorrow.

Chennai-Central Asansol Weekly Express scheduled to leave today has been "cancelled", a SR bulletin said.

Similarly, Villupuram-Purulia Weekly Express, Kanniyakumari-Howrah Weekly Express, Alleppey-Dhanbad Express, Ernakulam-Santragachi Special Train, Kochuveli-Santragachi Superfast Special trains have been diverted through different routes.

Chennai Central-Howrah Mail, Yesvantpur-Bhagalpur Weekly, Yesvantpur-Howrah Express, Kanniyakumari-Dibrugarh Weekly Express, Thiruvananthapuram-Shalimar bi-weekly Express, Mangalore Central-Santragachi Weekly,

Chennai Central-Satragachi Weekly, Chennai Central-Howrah Coromandel Express, Allepey-Dhanbad Express had also been diverted, the bulletin added.
 

These trains were diverted through Vijayawada, Balharsha, Chandrapur, Raipur, Bilaspur, Rourkela, Tatanagar, Kharagpur and Howrah due to the cyclone, it said.
