Chandigarh Transport Authority today said it will start a special drive against diesel-run three wheelers coming from Punjab and Haryana in the city.
"State Transport Authority (UT Chandigarh) will start a special drive against diesel run auto rickshaws which are coming from Punjab or Haryana without valid documents and have completed their life span of 15 years," said an official release.
During the month of June and July, State Transport Authority carried out an intensive checking campaign against vehicles which have incomplete documents and were overloaded.

"More than 2,000 vehicles were checked and 495 were challaned, impounded or issued notices," the release said.
By compounding the challans, Rs 14.70 lakh were recovered as compounding fee, it added.
