Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Charandas Mahant Friday announced that a special session of the state Assembly will be called on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
The monsoon session of the Assembly was adjourned sine die on Friday after five sittings. The session had commenced from July 12.
Speaker Mahant while adjourning the session sine die, said, "I am glad to tell all the members that 2019 is the 150th birth anniversary year of father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. To commemorate and pay tribute, a special session of the Assembly will be convened on October 2."
During the session that concluded Friday, discussions were held for 23.15 hours in total five sittings, in which notices of 495 starred and 451 un-starred questions were received, he said.
Similarly, 257 Call Attention Motion notices were received, 60 of which were admitted and 50 were converted into Zero Hour notices, he informed.
