A speeding car injured four persons when it rammed into a crowded roadside eatery in West Delhi's Nihal Vihar area, police said.

The driver has been arrested while the other occupants managed to flee from the spot, they said.

After the incident occurred last night, enraged locals beat up three occupants of the car and tried to set it afire, they said.

"A PCR team and personnel from the local police station rushed to the spot to disperse the outraged crowd," police said.

The injured identified as Naval Singh (35), Ameena (40), Santosh (32) and Mushtaq were rushed to a private hospital, which in turn referred them to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.

"All of them have been declared out of danger. The driver identified as Satpal (31) has been booked under relevant charges," police said.

The eatery, which suffered damages, was crowded at the time of the accident at about 11 PM, police said.
