Spl public prosecutor caught for taking Rs 1,000 bribe

A special public prosecutor was today caught while he allegedly accepted bribe of Rs 1,000 from a complainant in Thane's Bhiwandi court premises, Anti-Corruption Bureau said.

An offence was registered by the complainant with Kongaon police in Thane sometime back. The chargesheet in connection with the case was filed in a court at Bhiwandi.

Special public prosecutor Kiran B Kakade (50) allegedly demanded Rs 1,000 from the complainant to make the case strong, a release issued by the Thane unit of ACB said.

Following the complaint, the ACB trapped Kakade in the Bhiwandi court premises while he was accepting the cash this afternoon, the ACB said.
 

An offence has been registered against him under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, the ACB said.

Meanwhile, sources said Kakade was still not arrested in the matter.
