SPO falls in gorge, dies

A Special Police Officer died after slipping into a deep gorge in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, police said today.

Mohammad Ashraf, working as a SPO in police station Kralpora of the district, slipped and fell into a 40-feet gorge at Rangwar-Asmaldar Behak while he was on duty, a police spokesman said.

The critically injured Ashraf was shifted to a hospital for treatment where doctors declared him 'brought dead.'

The body was handed over to his relatives for last rites, the spokesman added.
