SPO shot by militants dies

A special police officer (SPO), who was shot and critically injured by militants in Pulwama district on Tuesday, succumbed to injuries today, police said.

Aqib Wagay had received serious bullet injuries in both the legs.

He was taken to a nearby hospital from where he was referred to the Army's 92 Base Hospital for specialised treatment.

During the treatment, one of his legs had to be amputated to save his life, the police said.

However, he said, Wagay succumbed to the injuries today.
