As many as 1,000 Special Police Officers (SPOs) in Jammu and Kashmir would be imparted technical training of various trades and then absorbed in the police department, a state minister said here today.
"SPOs who would be eligible for appointment as constables would be imparted vocational training courses of different trades for their absorption in the Police department," minister of state for Technical Education Vikar Rasool said chairing a high-level meeting.
The Minister directed the officers to speed up the mechanism for providing the requisite trainings to the SPOs so that they would be absorbed in the police department.

"They should work in close coordination to ensure speedy implementation of the policy as it would go a long way in providing a sense of security in the SPOs," he said.
Director General Police Ashok Parshad, ADGP S P Vaid, Secretary, Technical Education Parvez Malik, Director Technical Education J P Singh and other senior officers attended the meeting, an official spokesman said.
