Days after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's announcement of forming two new police districts in Barasat and Basirhat, the state government today made C Sudhakar as the Senior Superintendent of Police (Coordination) of North 24 Parganas district.
Dhrubajyoti De and K Sabari Kumar were made the SPs of Barasat and Basirhat, respectively, a notification issued by the state's Home and Hill Affairs Department Police Service Cell said.
Citing the need to increase vigilance in North 24 Parganas as it is "very vulnerable due to smuggling of cows through the district bordering Bangladesh", Banerjee had announced her decision to form the two police districts last week.
Nadia SP Sheesh Ram Jhajharia was transferred as the CO SAP third battalion, Barrackpore, the notification said.
Jhajharia was replaced by Santosh Pandey, who was the SSP (Coordination) South 24 Parganas district, it added.
