A four-day staff training programme on Biogas Technology began today for the staff of Krishi Vikas Kendras of Tamil Nadu at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here.
Inaugurating the programme, University Vice-Chancellor, Dr. K. Ramasamy, said the state has received three consecutive prizes for biogas plant installed in Erode, Coimbatore and Kanyakumari district.
Stating that Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy were providing funds for research work in TNAU, he said the Centre was now requesting to train the KVKs to extend the technology to the farmers.

He requested all 14 KVKs in the University to have two solar lanterns and one biogas plant with lighting system on their premises.
The programme was jointly organised by Biogas Development Training Centre in the University and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, New Delhi.
