A woman and her paramour have been arrested for allegedly killing her infant step-daughter by throwing her into a river at Sector 14 area here, police said today.
The accused Sunita and her lover Atik Ahmad have been booked for killing her step-daughter four days ago, DSP Rahul Dev said.
The father of the child had filed a missing case, he said, adding that CCTV footage helped in zeroing in on the real culprits.
On examination of the footage, it was found that Sunita went out of the house along with her one-year-old step daughter but returned alone, police said.
The woman confessed to her role in the crime, they said.
Efforts are on to trace the child's body, police added.
