In the wake of the violence in the Kashmir Valley, Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday said steps are being taken to ensure the safety of Amarnath pilgrims and strict action would be taken against those indulging in rumour mongering.
“Adequate steps are being taken to ensure safety of the yatris and provide them all facilities,” Inspector General of Police (Jammu zone) Danish Rana said during a meeting with the civil society here.
Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel spoke to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and urged him to ensure safety of around 4,500 pilgrims from the state stranded in Jammu and Kashmir. DIG Jammu (Samba Kathua range) Ashkoor Wani said the police and security forces are taking steps to check any untoward situation.
