Steve Aoki said producing EDM music was never his career goal.
The 39-year-old DJ, told GQ magazine, that he was previously a member of a hardcore group called This Machine Kills, and their aim was to make the world a better place.
"I wanted to change things. I've encountered my fair share of prejudice and racism on my way through life and addressing those injustices has long been a passion," Aoki said.
The singer said that his career in the music business and his stardom makes it harder for him to get the message across, though he still tries.
