STF nabs two constables selling prohibited cartridges in UP

Three persons, including two police personnel, were arrested by the STF in connection with allegedly supplying cartridges of prohibited bore to criminals from Bholepur crossing here.

Acting on a tip-off, Special Task Force (STF) of UP police yesterday arrested constable armourer Rajnish Kumar Pandey posted in Aligarh and constable Anuj Kumar Verma posted at Fatehgarh alongwith one Prashant Kumar Misra, STF said.

During interrogation, Pandey told the officials that he was in contact with about 10 armourers, some dismissed or suspended, with their help he used to sell the cartridges, they said.

As many as 120 cartridges of .38 bore, 29 of .303 bore with five charger clips, Rs 60 thousand in cash and four mobile phones were recovered from them, an STF release said.
 

He had supplied cartridges to Anuj twice in the past and had met him again for the same when the arrests were made, STF said.

A case has been registered and further investigations were on, STF added.
