Rebecca Thomas, who will be directing an upcoming episode of the "Stranger Things" second season, has been tapped to helm a sci-fi action-thriller "Malignant".
"Furious 7" director James Wan is producing the project, based on his Boom! comic, for 20th Century Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The story focuses on Alex Gates, a patient dying of a terminal disease who is resigned to his fate until it's discovered that his malignant tumour is actually a mysterious alien parasite.
Zak Olkewicz wrote the script for the adaptation.
