A stray dog that had bitten ten persons and triggered a scare in the local vegetable market, was today caught by a team of municipal workers and volunteers of Veterinarian Welfare and Animal Welfare Society of Puducherry.
A municipality official said the animal, which had bitten ten persons over the last few days, has been shifted to the Department of Animal Welfare for observation to ascertain whether it was a rabid dog.
The injured were treated as out patients in a government hospital, officials said.
Officials said the dog had delivered seven puppies and had bitten passersby fearing that puppies would be harmed.
