Student attacked over previous enmity dies

A 19-year old college student, seriously injured after being hit by another student a fortnight ago, died today at a government hospital here without responding to treatment, police said.

Ranjitkumar suffered head injuries when he was allegedly attacked with a wooden club on October 12 at Kovaipudur over previous enmity.

After treatment at a private hospital, he was shifted to the government hospital two days ago, police said.

The other student was arrested a day after the incident and booked for attempt to murder. He was released on bail.

However, with the death of Ranjithkumar, the case had been converted into murder and a search was on for the accused, they said.
