An 11-year-old tribal girl was electrocuted in a school hostel after which its superintendent was suspended for negligence in Kalimela area of Odisha's Malkangiri district today.
Urmila Kabasi, a class four student of the school, suffered severe burns after she touched the wall in her hostel room last night as electricity was apparently passing through the structure, Inspector In-Charge of Kalimela police station S K Nayak said.
The incident took place when the girl was trying to fix one side of a mosquito net on the wall, he said.

The girl succumbed to injuries while she was being taken from Kalimela block colony upper primary school to hospital, he said.
A case of unnatural death was registered and the body sent for post-mortem, he said.
In the wake of the incident, hostel superintendent Jayanti Sahu was placed under suspension with immediate effect today for negligence, Additional District Education Officer (ADEO) Manas Kumar Jena said.
An explanation has been sought from the head master of the school, S S Jena, regarding the incident in the tribal welfare school, he said.
