Student murder case: main accused surrenders in court

The main accused in the murder case of a 20-year-old student here in March has surrendered in court.

The court sent the accused Praveen Kumar to 14 days judicial custody yesterday.

CBI had launched a hunt for Kumar after the inquiry in the case was handed over to it on the direction of the Supreme Court.

The woman Riya was allegedly shot dead by the four accused Praveen Kumar, Sunil, Rohtash and Lalit Kumar at her house in Mudbhar village in the district on March 10, police had said.

While she was killed on the spot, her father Suresh, mother Anita, uncle Chandrapal sustained bullet injuries in the attack.
 

The victim's father had lodged an FIR against four persons, including ex-village head Kumar, who was absconding after the incident.

Police had registered a case against four persons and arrested two of the accused.
