Police today recovered the body of a student from her hostel room here in a suspected case of suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Ankita Sarkar, a dental medicine student of Dr R Ahmed Dental College and Hospital. She was staying at a hostel in Golpark area, police said.
Sarkar's body was found hanging from the ceiling of her room. The girl, a resident of Chakdah in Nadia district, was staying at the hostel with three other girls, who had gone home during the weekend, they said.
"We are looking into the matter and checking if it is a case of suicide. The body has been sent for post-mortem and we are waiting for the report," a police officer said.
