Sub-engineer held for accepting bribe in Madhya Pradesh

A sub-engineer attached with a civic body was today arrested while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000 at Bikangaon locality of Khargone district, Lokayukta police said.
"SE Brijesh Gupta (56) was apprehended while taking a bribe of Rs 8,000 from contractor Lalit Verma at his official residence" a Lokayukta police spokesperson said.
According to the spokesperson, Gupta had demanded the bribe from Verma for issuing him a certificate mentioning that the contractor has completed construction work of drainage worth Rs 24.44 lakh to clear way for his payment.
Gupta was arrested and a case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered, he said, adding investigations are on.
