Sub-Inspector suspended for cremating body of Muslim youth

A sub-Inspector was today suspended for allegedly cremating the body of a Muslim youth as per Hindu rituals.

District police chief Dharmendra Yadav suspended SI Krishan Baldev Yadav, posted as Loni Kasba police post in-charge, for cremating the body of a Muslim youth as per Hindu traditions, a senior police official said.

Family members of the deceased, identified as Saleem, said that the SI had found Saleem's body stuffed in a gunny bag with its head and forearms severed on April 18, Deputy Superintendent of Police Arvind Yadav said.

Despite knowing the fact that Saleem was a Muslim, the SI consigned his mortal remains to flames instead of burying it, the DSP said.
