Sufficient water in East Singhbhum district: Officials

A senior official of the Drinking Water and Sanitation (DWS) department today claimed here that the water reservoirs in the East Singhbhum district have sufficient water to tide over the summer and all the faulty tube wells were being repaired.

Of the total 22,500 tube wells in the district, 18,000 are functional while work was underway to repair the faulty tube wells to ensure smooth water supply in the the district, said Superintendent Engineer (Jamshedpur circle), Rajendra Prasad and Executive Engineer (Jamshedpur & Adityapur Division) Mantosh Kumar Mani here.

We have set up a Control Room to address the water-related grievances and also appointed one nodal officer for each block of the district to implement water supply effectively in view of the prevailing heat condition, he said.
 

Asked about the water supply-demand gap in the district, Prasad said the district has sufficient water in reservoirs to tide over the summer while all the four water projects - Mango Water Project (46 MLD capacity), Birsanagar (23 MLD), Jugsalai (15 MLD) and Adityapur (5 MLD)- were functioning well.
