Sugar closes lower on ample supply, weak demand

Sugar prices fell by Rs 25 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following weak demand amid sustained supplies.

Marketmen said fall in offtake from stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers due to approaching month-end amid persistent supplies from mills, mainly brought down sweetener prices.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices slipped from Rs 2,475-2,605 and Rs 2,465-2,595 to end at Rs 2,450-2,600 and Rs 2,440-2,590 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices asked lower at Rs 2,620-2,760 and Rs 2,590-2,750, showing a fall of Rs 10 per quintal.

In millgate section, Sugar Asmoli, Ramala, Bulandshaher,Anupshaher, Baghpat, Sakoti, Morna and Nazibabad were downby Rs 20 each to end at Rs 2,570, Rs 2,470, Rs 2,485, Rs 2,470, Rs 2,480, Rs 2,470, Rs 2,480 and Rs 2,465 per quintal, respectively.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 29.00-33.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 2,620-2,760 S-30 Rs 2,590-2,760.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 2,450-2,600 S-30 Rs 2,440-2,590.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 2,490, Kinnoni Rs 2,600, Asmoli Rs 2,570, Dorala Rs 2,505, Budhana Rs 2,510, Thanabhavan Rs 2,500, Dhanora Rs 2,500, Simbholi Rs 2,570, Modi Nagar Rs 2,490, Khatuli Rs 2,575, Dhampur 2,480, Ramala Rs 2,470, Bulandshaher Rs 2,485, Anupshaher Rs 2,470, Baghpat Rs 2,480, Morna Rs 2,480, Sakoti Rs 2,470, Chandpur Rs 2,470, Nazibabad Rs 2,465.
