Sugar drops on poor demand, good supply

Sugar prices dropped at the Vashi wholesale market here today due to lack of buying from stockists and retailers amid continued selling by mills.

Small sugar (S-30) fell by Rs 20 per quintal to finish at Rs 3,132/3,282 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 3,152/3,282.

Medium sugar (M-30) also lost by a similar margin to settle at Rs 3,182/3,452 per quintal as against Rs 3,202/3,472 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,132/3,282 (Rs 3,152/3,282).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,182/3,452 (Rs 3,202/3,472).
