Sugar edges up on mild demand

Prices of both the varieties of sugar edged up modestly at the Vashi wholesale market today due to mild demand from stockists and bulk consumer amid restricted arrivals.

Small sugar (S-30) moved up by Rs 4 per quintal to Rs 3,616/3,692 from last Saturday's level of Rs 3,612/3,692.

Medium sugar (M-30) gained by Rs 4 per quintal to Rs 3,706/3,842 as against Rs 3,702/3,842 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,616/3,692 (Rs 3,612/3,692).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,706/3,842 (Rs 3,702/3,842).
