Sugar prices close lower on ample stocks, low demand

Sugar prices declined Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following ample stock position against sluggish demand from bulk consumers.

Marketmen said rise in stocks on non-stop supplies from mills coupled with weak demand from stockists and bulk consumers such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers attributed to the fall in sweetener prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices dropped by Rs 20 each to settle the day at Rs 3,380-3,620 and Rs 3,370-3,610 per quintal.

Likewise, sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices enquired lower by Rs 15 each to Rs 3,190-3,385 and Rs 3,180- 3,375 per quintal.
 

In the mill gate section, sugar Budhana, Thanabhavan, Chandpur and Shamili fell by Rs 40 each to conclude the day at Rs 3,280, Rs 3,275, Rs 3,230 and Rs 3,250, while Mawana shed Rs 35 to Rs 3,275 per quintal.

Prices of Simbholi, Dhampur and Sakoti dropped by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,335, Rs 3,245 and Rs 3,260, while Dorala and Modinagar slipped by Rs 25 each to Rs 3,280 and Rs 3,265 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 34.00-37.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,380-3,620, S-30 Rs 3,370-3,610.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,190-3,385, S-30 Rs 3,180-3,375.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,275, Kinnoni Rs 3,385, Asmoli Rs 3,345, Dorala Rs 3,280, Budhana Rs 3,280, Thanabhavan Rs 3,275, Dhanora Rs 3,345, Simbholi Rs 3,335, Khatuli Rs 3,365, Dhampur Rs 3,245, Ramala Rs 3,200, Anupshaher Rs 3,200, Baghpat Rs 3,230, Morna Rs 3,220, Sakoti Rs 3,260, Chandpur Rs 3,230, Nazibabad Rs 3,190, Modinagar 3,265, Shamli 3,250, and Nanota 3,200.
